SC Ferlach is a multi-sport club that has been active in the region for more than 60 years. Since our founding we have pursued
the ideals of camaraderie and
sportsmanship. But we have
also grown since our founding,
and so today we count
among the few
multi-sport clubs in Austria.
As such, we see it as our duty
to strive to uphold the following
principles:
Rooted in the region for almost 60 years, we feel an obligation towards our members, and also towards the region, to give people the opportunity to do sport together in a community and keep physically fit, regardless of their gender, social and geographical background, skin colour or political views.
We have lived by this motto for many years. We offer every child and young person the opportunity to fulfil their potential in individual or team sport. Our aim is not only to inspire young people to love sport, but also to offer them a community from which they take the spirit of camaraderie with them.
Our founding fathers would probably never have dared to dream that SC Ferlach would establish itself in top-level sport – today it is reality. There have been victories and defeats, and at times we have walked through a vale of tears, but always with our eyes on the goal and our focus on sport. As a result, we have succeeded in placing two teams in the country's top handball league in their respective categories.
For SC Ferlach, the focus is not only on sport – but also on society. Today, for example, we work with people with special needs from autArk. We take part in the “Kinder gesund bewegen” initiative and offer handball at many primary schools in the region. In this way, SC Ferlach helps to motivate children to take up sport.
We pass on all these values and principles to our members and especially to our young players. We believe in treating each other like family and create a bond between sport and community – true to our motto!
