The section.

From a once exotic sport to a fixed part of Ferlach's sporting landscape: founded on 29 September 1982 and admitted as the karate section of the multi-sport club Sport Club Ferlach.

It began when a handful of people set about building up karate, a sport considered exotic at the time, within SC Ferlach. Alfred Scheikl and Walter Larcher, an HTL student, were the initiators and laid the foundations for everything that followed in Ferlach karate. They found a willing ear in the chairman of SC Ferlach, Walter Perkounig sen.: he offered to run karate in an organised form as a section of SC Ferlach.
